What Is a Managed Agent Service Provider (MASP)?

You already own a website. What you are missing is someone working inside it around the clock. A Managed Agent Service Provider installs AI agents on the site you already own and runs them for you. Here is what that actually means.

A New Category, Named Out Loud

You have heard of a managed service provider. The company that runs your IT so you do not have to think about it. You have heard of a SaaS vendor. The company that rents you software you log into.

A Managed Agent Service Provider, or MASP, is neither of those. It is the thing that shows up when AI agents become good enough to actually do work, and business owners realize they do not want to build, host, babysit, or debug those agents themselves.

Notice what just happened. You now have a word for the thing you have been quietly wishing existed: someone who puts capable AI agents to work on your behalf and keeps them running, so you get the outcome without the operations.

At Alpaca Launch, we coined the category because somebody had to. We install AI agents on the website you already own, and we operate them 24/7 from Toronto. That is the whole model, and once you see it, renting a generic chatbot starts to look like a strange compromise.

The Difference Between Renting a Chatbot and Owning an Agent

Most "AI for your business" offers on the market today are chatbot SaaS. You sign up, you get a widget, you paste a script tag onto your site, and a bubble appears in the corner. The bot lives on the vendor's servers, wears the vendor's branding underneath, and answers from a script you barely control.

That is renting. And when you rent, three things are quietly true:

  • The agent does not live on your domain. It lives on theirs, borrowing a corner of your page.
  • The conversations, the leads, the data all flow through their platform first.
  • The moment you stop paying, everything vanishes, including the history and the training you invested in.

A MASP flips every one of those. The agent runs as part of your website, on your domain, working with your data. It answers the phone, replies to the form, books the appointment, follows up on the quote, and updates your records. When someone asks it a question, it answers from your business, not from a generic script.

You will feel the difference the first time a customer says "your website answered me at 11pm and booked me in." That was not a widget. That was your agent, doing your work.

What "Managed" Actually Means

Here is where most AI conversations fall apart. Everyone talks about what AI can do. Almost nobody talks about who keeps it running at 2am when the model updates, the prompt drifts, or a customer asks something nobody anticipated.

Managed means we own that part. You do not.

When you work with a MASP, you are not handed a dashboard and a login and a wish of good luck. You get a team that:

  • Builds the agent around your actual services, pricing, and voice
  • Installs it into the site you already own
  • Watches it, tunes it, and corrects it as real conversations come in
  • Handles the model changes, the security, the uptime, the plumbing
  • Reports back on what it caught, booked, and closed while you were busy

Think of it the way you think about a great front-desk hire, except this one works every hour of every day, never calls in sick, and gets sharper the longer it works for you. The work happens. The maintenance is not your problem.

Why This Model Exists Now

For years, small businesses had two bad options. Option one: buy generic software and become your own part-time IT department. Option two: hire a developer, spend a fortune, and pray they stick around.

AI agents created a third path, but only if someone competent stands between you and the raw technology. Raw AI is powerful and unpredictable. Left unmanaged, it hallucinates numbers, ignores instructions, and confidently says things that are wrong. You do not want that answering your customers unsupervised.

A MASP is the layer that makes agents safe to run in a real business. We put guardrails around them so they pull real numbers from your real database instead of inventing figures. We keep them on script where accuracy matters and flexible where conversation matters. We make sure they hand off to a human at exactly the right moment.

You get the speed and the always-on coverage of AI, with the judgment and accountability of a Toronto team standing behind it.

What It Looks Like for a Real Toronto Business

Picture a small HVAC company in Etobicoke. One owner, three trucks, a decent website that has quietly done nothing but sit there for two years.

A customer's furnace dies on a Sunday night in January. They Google, they land on the site, and instead of a dead contact form, an agent greets them, understands the emergency, checks the next available slot, books a Monday morning visit, texts a confirmation, and drops the job straight into the calendar. The owner wakes up to a booked emergency call he never lifted a finger for.

That same agent, all week, is quietly answering "do you service my area," "what does a tune-up cost," and "can you send someone today," turning tire-kickers into scheduled jobs. No new hire. No new software to learn. The website the owner already paid for finally started earning.

That is the MASP promise in one sentence: your domain, our agents, open for business.

What This Is Not

Let us be honest about the boundaries, because a category is defined as much by what it refuses to be.

A MASP is not a website builder. You keep the site you own. A MASP is not a chatbot rental where you do the setup and pray. A MASP is not an AI tool you have to learn, prompt, and maintain yourself. And it is not a black box that invents your numbers, because everything runs on your real data with a real team watching.

If any vendor tells you "just paste this script and you are live," they are renting you a widget, not managing an agent. The two are not the same thing, and now you know how to tell them apart.

Your Domain. Our Agents. Open for Business.

The businesses that win the next few years will not be the ones with the most software. They will be the ones with capable agents actually doing work on the sites they already own, while the owner sleeps, drives, or serves the customer in front of them.

You already did the hard part. You built the business and bought the website. What is left is to put agents to work inside it, managed by people who do this for a living.

Spark, our entry plan, starts at $797/mo with a $1,999 setup and puts your first agent to work. That is one agent, always on, handling the front door of your business so nothing warm goes cold.

Book a strategy call and we will show you exactly what an agent would do on your site this week. Explore what our agents run for you and picture your own front desk, staffed around the clock, on the domain you already own.
